Our
Mission
At the 15th Judicial District Child Advocacy Center (CAC), our mission is to reduce the trauma of child abuse and facilitate the healing process. Since our inception in 2008, we have expanded from small beginnings to a Center now housed in a beautiful historic home. Our staff includes an Executive Director, two Forensic Interviewers, and a Family Advocate. Our compassionate and skilled team is committed to providing the support and care that young victims of abuse and their families/caregivers need to begin their journey toward healing. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit governed by a diverse Board of Directors.
Our Reach
We serve all children in Wilson, Trousdale, Macon, Smith, and Jackson counties in Tennessee. The CAC is the only organization in the 15th Judicial District offering these specialized services. We work in partnership with local law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, the Department of Children’s Services, medical personnel, and mental health providers. This collaborative approach helps investigators and prosecutors while minimizing further trauma to the victims.
Community
Ed
We offer a free community child abuse awareness education called Darkness to Light / Stewards of Children program. This program educates teachers, volunteers, and organizations how to prevent, recognize, and respond to child abuse. For every adult trained, ten children are better protected. Since we began offering this training, at least 10,000 children in the 15th Judicial District are safer.
